This song was written by John Bois, a good friend of Cheryl's who used to be in her band. He produced the album Half a Book and played bass on it. In fact, most of the people who played in her band also played on that album.
This song deals with the end of a relationship when you still want it to continue, but the other person doesn't.
- I Don't Reach You Anymore
- Words And Music By
- Cheryl Wheeler
- You turn away from my outstretched hand
- You turn inside to a distant land
- Good things I do are never seen
- Bad things are on a cinemascope screen
- While there was hope it was worth a try
- I'd be satisfied to satisfy
- You've often said = "Honey it takes work"
- You are my king I am your serf
- I don't reach you anymore - anymore
- I don't reach you anymore
- We started out with an appetite
- We have not loved in a hundred nights
- I'm so ashamed I don't complain
- I hide in sleep, you do the same
- Where there was trust now there is fear
- Everything found can disappear
- I dont want roses everyday
- But oh I hate to have to say
- When mornin' comes we get out of bed
- "Have a nice day" - "wish you were dead"
- We don't mean either anymore
- Without goodbye we're out the door
