Another song I wish she would record. It appears on her EP Newport Songs but few have access to that. The song is about people having fun at the beach. It's a catchy little tune.
- On the Beach
- Words And Music By
- Cheryl Wheeler
- On the beach, where the boys are
- And a thousand people lay
- Hear the beats of a dozen
- Of your favorite songs together as they play
- Grandma and grandpa, auntie and uncle
- Every son and daughter
- Sit in the sand and watch the sailboats
- Rolling in the water
- On the beach, Billy Joel sings
- With a verse of Bonnie Raitt
- Trumpets screech with guitar strings
- Bette Davis eyes and latin congas play
- Though it is hotter than hell
- There are charcoal fires blazing in the sunlight
- Children will yell when they see sky fliers
- Selling a ride for one night
- On the beach, we are happy
- And we do not have a care
- Let it reach over ninety
- Or a hundred in the sun and salty air
- Swim in the waves, let the salty water
- Rock 'n' roll your body
- Boy chases girl 'till he thinks he's caught her
- Oh what a public party
- On the beach, where the boys are
- And a thousand people lay
- Hear the beats of a dozen
- Of your favorite songs together as they play
